Chernobyl Children’s Life Line

July saw us host our third successful year of the ‘Chernobyl Children’s Life Line Charity’ visit. Despite some suspect weather, the group of 19 children enjoyed a barbeque followed by fresh strawberries and cream.  The youngsters were also delighted to receive gift bags filled with cuddly toys, sticker books and stationary which had kindly been donated by NatWest Bank and Bertram Books. Start-rite Shoes once again provided each child with a new pair of shoes, whilst boxes of fresh fruit were provided by McCarthy’s.

Luckily the rain clouds cleared in time for the children to appreciate rides in both Seething Airfield’s fire engine and a tractor unit c/o ‘Brands of Beccles’, whilst PCSO’s Sarah McCue and Ross Mullinger were on hand, allowing the children to dress up as police officers.

Jayne Berry, part of our accounts and ledger team, has since received a letter from the charity thanking her for her donation of cuddly toys, whilst stating it had been their “best visit ever” with all of the children having a fantastic time.

McCarthys would like to say a massive thank you to everyone that made the day possible, and we look forward to another successful visit next year.
